Gander Oceanic is seeking applications for the role of Deputy OCA Chief (ZQO2). This is a vital role within the OCA and is our second most crucial management position.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports to: Gander Oceanic OCA Chief (ZQO1)
Responsible for: Assisting the OCA Chief with his/her general duties, and delegation of tasks.
Duties:
- Receives and forwards reports from all departments to the OCA Chief
- Assists with the monitoring of the day to day operations of the OCA as well as assisting the OCA Chief where required
- Monitors the status and review schedule of OCA policies and official documents
- Assists other staff members in the operation of their departments
- Assumes the role of Acting OCA Chief in the event of a temporary absence of the OCA Chief
- Attends staff meetings
- Assist with any other tasks as requested
- Maintains a regular online presence within the OCA, including on all social media channels
The ideal candidate must:
- Hold a C1 rating or higher
- Hold a current Gander or Shanwick Oceanic Endorsement
- Respond to emails and relevant notifications in a timely manner
- Be able to communicate via different mediums to support people of different cultures and backgrounds
- Be a member of good standing within VATSIM and their home division
- Have previous experience in any leadership role, internally or externally to VATSIM
- Have proficient command of both written and spoken English
Command over one or more foreign languages is considered beneficial, although not a prerequisite for the position.
