Gander Oceanic is seeking applications from our membership for the Gander Oceanic Deputy FIR Chief (ZQO2) position. This is a vital role within Gander, and is the second most important leadership position in the FIR.
Position duties and responsiblities:
Reports to: Gander Oceanic FIR Chief (ZQO1)
Responsible for: Assisting the FIR Chief with his/her general duties, and delegation of tasks.
Duties:
- Receives reports from all departments and forward to the FIR Chief
- Assists with the monitoring of the day to day operations of the FIR and assist the FIR Chief where required
- Monitors the status of FIR policies and official documents
- Assists other staff members in the operation of their departments
- Assumes the role of Acting FIR Chief in the temporary absence of the FIR Chief
- Attends quarterly staff meetings
- Able to assist with any other tasks as requested
- Maintains a regular online presence within the FIR, including on all social media channels
The ideal candidate must:
- Be an active certified Gander Oceanic controller
- Respond to emails and relevant notifications in a timely manner
- Be available to communicate via different mediums to support people of different cultures and backgrounds
- Be a member of good standing within VATSIM and your home division (ie. no disciplinary actions within the last 12 months)
- Have previous experience in a leadership role, either on VATSIM or in real life
- Have proficient command of both written and spoken English
- Be available to attend an interview if required
