Montreal (CZUL) / Thanks to Jason!

Hi guys,

I was helping a newish CXA pilot with some RNAV procedures last night and Jason, whom was working Montreal Centre, was good enough to accommodate some RNAV approaches into Ottawa.  I was pleasantly surprised when even more traffic popped up at Ottawa.  Jason, thank you for your patience and support!  You were excellent to work with.

I look forward to more flying in the Montreal FIR soon!

All the best,

I was about to post a note in the Montreal FIR forum regarding this.  I really enjoyed how the controller not only worked tower position but ground and apron as well!  I can barely do one thing at a time, he must really have an amazing system he followed to keep all the ducks in a row.  I hope to see that again down the road!

Great job.

Winnipeg (CZWG) / Sector file update
« on: April 09, 2019, 04:02:17 PM »
Hi all,

Could I request that the sector file be updated?  I have no idea how to do it I'm afraid.  Getting it to a 1903/1904 level would be ideal.

Montreal (CZUL) / Great work! Thank you!

Good morning. I wanted to post a thank you for everyone’s great work in the FIR. It’s fantastic to see ATC up again for Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City.

Keep up the great work!

General Discussion / Free CFS & TC-AIM from 2015 - just shipping cost

Hi guys,

I picked up some used aviation reference guides the other day and they came with an old CFS and a TC-AIM. Both from 2015. I do not need them and will recycle them unless anyone wants them? You can get a TC-AIM soft copy PDF from Transport Canada for free and has the CFS you can download. I know some people prefer hard copies even if out of date.

Let me know by end of the month.

Guess that's the problem... I don't know squat about alias commands.  I don't believe we used them much (or at all) in the old days.  I know I didn't.  It's a shame there's no way to have a common teamspeak or something just for controllers for vocal handoffs using our initials or assigned codes.

Maybe that's the next thing since we are primarily voice now?   I remember when voice first came out and how blown away we were.  So much less typing, especially for the poor pilot who had his/her hands full already!

Upon reflection I'm sure I was just as much at fault, especially when handling all the traffic from ground up to centre.  I admit to being overwhelmed :)  Busiest CZWG has been for some time... it was great!

General Discussion / Handoff issues
« on: April 05, 2019, 10:29:42 PM »
Hi all,

I have worked two heavy events recently and I am fascinated by the attitude I am receiving when trying to handoff aircraft to MSP and SLC.  I'm sure it's user error on my part but when I do a manual transfer with usually plenty of advance notice before crossing the border it either works or I get a nastygram on the ATC chat about late handoffs or something to that extent.

Is it just me or does anyone else notice the same?

Certainly puts a bad taste in your mouth while working a lot of traffic.
