Any more info, eg. any idea the estimated time for entry to Canadian airspace?

Paul I don't think we will know for at least 2 weeks. Airfield applications aren't even up yet  :-\

Airfield applications are already closed :)

General Discussion / Re: test

Just a discussion a few of us in Vancouver were having this evening while looking over separation requirements for parallel ILS approaches, do you consider any simultaneous ILS approaches as dependent or independent on VATSIM? For example, at CYVR, we meet all requirements for simultaneous independent ILS approaches, except for the fact that we never have an NTZ Monitor Controller, nor do we have the NTZ depicted on our scopes.

The majority of us came to the conclusion that this would require us to treat all simultaneous ILS approaches as dependent, however, I'm curious to hear others opinions on this subject :)

I've only heard the utmost positive things from pilots who departed Toronto, great job you guys!

Congrats Dean! Best of luck and if you need to reach out to someone who used to be in that seat give me a shout.

Are you VATCAN Staff?

You don’t have to be current VATCAN staff to offer help and advice...

News / Re: "Should VATCAN go to a discord server" vote now open
« on: July 20, 2018, 09:45:21 PM »
In the instance of using both principles in one thought, VATCAN should be keeping everything as simple as can be. We don't want to have a various amount of non-essential issues to be looked at in the beginning of the VATCAN Executive team with a couple new faces. We want important issues addressed first; FIR vacancy's, events, membership, GDPR compliance. Just to name a few...

FYI, TeamSpeak is the furthest thing from GDPR compliant while Discord is fully GDPR compliant...

News / Thank You - VATCAN5 Resignation
« on: June 02, 2018, 11:05:39 PM »

Today will be my last day as Communications and Events Director (VATCAN5) with VATCAN.

I have many projects and real-world obligations that I would like to be able to give my full attention and effort to.

You've all made my time here as Communication and Events Director so rewarding! How could I have gotten through division event coordination without the tremendous work from FIR staff and controllers?

It's been a pleasure working with each and every one of you and I hope to see you all on the scopes and in the air!

Thanks again for an amazing year as Communications and Events Director with VATCAN.

All the best,
